"2 People, 2 Steps, Twice the Calorie Burn, Twice the Fun!" says the box cover, but logic dictates that unless you're a Siamese twin, you're going to lose just as many calories as you would if you were stepping solo. Instructor Pam Archer takes viewers through a basic step workout, with added abdominal conditioning, and stretching and relaxation exercises. The nine participants in this exclusively whitebread production make for a lot of extra human clutter (two of the steppers are out of frame during most of the tape), and the one person who demonstrates the low-impact version without a step is stuck way in the back of the room and blocked out repeatedly by Archer or her companion in the foreground. In short, neither the idea nor the execution are particularly good. The Tim Culwell Creative Steps series (VL-11/93) and Steppin' Out (VL-9/94) are better choices. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
