Camela Nitschke, owner of The Ribbonry in Perrysburg, OH, is the host and instructor for this hybrid of history and "how-to." The opening third of the video is devoted to a patchwork history of 17th and 18th century French ribbonry, showing fashionable ribbons in portraits from the era. In the "how-to" portion, Nitschke demonstrates how to make a flower ribbon composed of a Cabochon Rose, with leaf and pod, which was worn at the French Royal Court during the time of Marie Antoinette. While the project is clearly shown, the opening historical overview, delivered in a monotone and often rushed, is nearly drowned out by the wallpaper classical soundtrack. Too, one 15-minute project (with some variations shown at the close) seems a little stingy given the wealth of material which could have been presented on the subject. An optional purchase. (R.
