A very low-budget production, this overview of crystal and gem collecting in the Piedmont area in Georgia and South Carolina is presented by the Kaworski's, a husband and wife rockhounding team, who also teach. Following a brief introduction, the video camera pans across display cases looking at crystals, while the voice-over narration talks about mineralogy, some of the crystals shown, and display tips. This is followed by a twenty-minute segment at an actual dig which is essentially a home video. The program concludes with demonstrations of how to clean crystals and gems, and demonstrations of how the pieces are polished and set into beautiful jewelry. While rock hunting enthusiasts would probably watch this, the amateur quality of the video (not the information, mind you, the Kaworski's know their stuff and the fact that the program is tied into a specific area (the Piedmont region limits the audience for the tape). Not recommended. (R. Pitman)
