Filmed in her garden from April through October, Seasons of Splendor, presented by Jane Kuitems, takes viewers on a seasonal tour: pointing out the best perennial options, discussing soil preparation and planting, and including many tips on spring, summer, and winter maintenance. While Kuitems knows her subject well, the video doesn't really take advantage of the medium. The washed-out looking visuals are unappealing (top-notch video quality is virtually a must in this category), more plants are listed than are actually shown, and when Kuitems demonstrates rather than lectures the camera rarely moves in for a close-up. Viewers will get the basic idea, but low production values hamper the effectiveness of the program. Not a necessary purchase. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
