During the first half of this program on "tips" for new parents, I learned that it's darned nice to occasionally bring dinner home to the wife/mother/babysitter (and, although the tape doesn't say so, I assume the same holds true if hubby is doing diaper duty and the wife is bringing home the bacon...and the bacon double cheeseburgers). Using tired skits that would tax the patience of a world-class couch potato, the video follows fictional parental newbies Peter and Peggy as they readjust to life with junior. While the basic idea is sound--parenting is a two-person job, and so, incidentally, is keeping house--the tip-to-skit ratio is a little too thin. Cramming in a few helpful suggestions towards the end about laundry, dishes (whoever doesn't cook, rolls up sleeves), establishing diaper stations at high traffic areas in the home, etc., doesn't make up for the oodles of wasted time during the opening minutes. An optional purchase, at best; especially considering the high price for a parenting how-to. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
