Remember, how your mom used to tell you to "take a deep breath" when you came in with a scratched knee from falling off your bike and it seemed likely that, at the very least, you would probably die? Well, it turns out that mother was physiologically correct. Abdominal breathing is very good for you. Based on her book of the same name, instructor Nancy Zi's The Art of Breathing offers six breathing and imagery lessons (with several different exercises in each lesson) aimed at cultivating the calming and restorative powers of "chi-yi" (which means "art of breathing"). With one exception (there's a drill that teaches you how to "exude a magnetic power that can captivate an individual or an audience at will," which sounds pretty fishy), The Art of Breathing is a good instructional tape on learning how to maximize the benefits from abdominal breathing. Recommended. (R. Pitman)

Star Ratings
As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
