Although many males complain of being henpecked, birdwatcher and host George H. Harrison was actually wren-pecked when he wandered to close to a familial nest. The occasional attack from an overprotective wren notwithstanding, birdwatching is, in most other respects, a relatively safe experience, and this program, which aired on PBS, shows viewers how to make a wonderful wild bird sanctuary in their own backyard. Separated into subject areas, the program looks at how to create successful habitat areas in low, medium, and high places to attract the largest variety of birds, offers tips on nesting places (including, oddly enough, a pot of geraniums) and counsels viewers on the wide variety of foods (and feeders) available to keep one's ornithological extended family happy, hearty, and healthy. The bottom line here seems to be: if you build it, they will come. Avid birdwatchers will welcome the hands-on instruction that Harrison provides. Highly recommended. Aud: P. (R. Pitman)
