A companion video to former major league pitcher Tom House's book The Pitching Edge, this intensive clinic features House working with a group of young athletes--including Nolan Ryan's son Reid--on the basics of good pitching. Demonstrating how to use balance, direction, weight transfer, and launch when throwing a ball, House runs his young charges through a series of exercises and drills aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of their pitches. In the final quarter hour of the tape, House retires to the video room, where he uses a light pen and slow-motion footage of good and bad pitching styles to point out mistakes and offer corrections. A good pitching tape, far superior to Ron LeFebvre's Perfect Pitch Video series (VL-5/94). Recommended for libraries without similar fare. (R. Pitman)
