In case you had any doubts, "milk doesn't grow on trees," as one mother reminds her offspring. We all know it grows in your refrigerator (especially if you let it sit past the expiration date). Regardless of where it ends up--as a carton of milk, a slab of cheese, a quart of ice cream, or a fake mustache on Cal Ripken's face--milk is born in a cow, as viewers will learn in Vrooommm2!: Dairy Farming for Kids. Bill, the onscreen host, visits the Coyne Farm in upstate New York, where individual cows chow down about 100 lbs. per diem of the harvested hay/corn mix and chew their cuds--basically a coughed-up foodball--between 45-50 times before swallowing (Emily Post would, no doubt, approve). We follow milk's journey from cow's udder to, in this case, packaged cheese, and get a glimpse of cow maintenance on the farm (a cow getting his toenails clipped is truly a sight to behold). While farming videos are a dime a dozen, this one's a decent addition (though educators may find the $29.95 teacher's guide--comprised mainly of activity sheets--to be a bit expensive). Recommended. As of March 2022, Video Librarian has changed from a four-star rating system to a five-star one. This change allows our reviewers to have a wider range of critical viewpoints, as well as to synchronize with Google’s rating structure. This change affects all reviews from March 2022 onwards. All reviews from before this period will still retain their original rating. Future film submissions will be considered our new 1-5 star criteria.
