Former Chicago lead singer turned '80s solo superstar Peter Cetera shares the stage with contemporary Christian singer Amy Grant for this hour-shy entry in PBS's Soundstage series. Grant kicks off with a trio of tunes, including the title track from her latest release Simple Things, followed by a nine-song set by Cetera (joined by Grant for a duet on "Next Time I Fall in Love"), who mixes Chicago blockbusters ("If You Leave Me Now," "You're the Inspiration," and "Baby What a Big Surprise") with his own considerably shorter roster of hits (such as "Glory of Love"). DVD extras include three additional songs, including Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4" (performed here with an acoustic guitar lead that lacks the bite of the original horn-laden monster) and "Hard to Say I'm Sorry." A rather short concert by a singer who has all the sincere stage presence of a lounge singer, Peter Cetera: Live in Concert nevertheless finds the "voice of Chicago" in fine form, music-wise, making this disc--presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and stereo--a strong optional purchase.
